Nude lips pair perfectly with a dramatic smoky eye, but finding the right shade can be tricky. Here’s a quick guide to steer you in the right direction to achieving that perfect nude pout. Nude lips look best when the color is one shade lighter or darker than your complexion, rather than an exact match.
If you have a naturally strong lip colour use a thin layer of foundation/concealer under your lipstick to tone them down in preparation for your nude shade.
Choose a shade that flatters your skin tone….
Pale – Dusty baby pink, avoid beige
Fair – Soft pinks and peaches or pale apricot, avoid beige
Light with slight yellow undertones – Light creamy toned beiges in latte or mocha
Olive – Beige, caramel, pink and peach, slightly lighter or darker than your skin tone.
Tan – Caramel-toned nudes and warm beiges with gloss or shimmer to bring out your tan more
Medium – Pink toned nudes, make sure it’s lighter than your skin tone
Caramel – Beige or caramel nudes
Mocha – A rosy pink mauve with gold flecks or a caramel rose with silver flecks
Dark – Chocolate tones such as rich golden browns and coffees with hint of gloss
