I’ve collected a few Pat McGrath palettes over time and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s an awful lot of money for what you’re getting. What makes her palettes so desirable are her 'special' formulas, the four eyeshadows to the right of her palettes. They really are something else, very different, very dimensional.
But..if I was starting again, I would probably invest in the Blitz Astral quads, which just have 'special' shades. You can get a set of 3 of the quads for £130 on her website (as opposed to £60 each) and she often has special offers with 25-30% off. I got the set for about £95 (inc postage) and split them between friends and we feel like our lust for those specials has been well satisfied. At the end of the day, if you’re an eyeshadow fan, you’re going to want to have the Pat magic!
So the Bronze Seduction palette: wonderful warm rich shades. If I didn’t have any other palettes of hers, this is the one I would go for. I’m brown-skinned and found the Divine Rose palette too wishy washy on my skin tone so I swapped it for this palette and I’m much happier with this one. The specials are special. The matts, whilst excellent quality and pigmentation, I could duplicate with other palettes and brands. The quality is there, but then, the quality is not bad with ABH or Juvia's Place. But I do feel like it's £115 for the four shadows that I want (and even then one is duplicated in another palette or is at least ever so similar) which is why I can’t give 5 stars.
Other gripes: the packaging is wasteful and I don’t think you can recycle the plastic strips that they use in their parcels. In this day and age that’s so unnecessary.
I’ve an issue with her marketing strategies where palettes are launched in a frenzy and are so called 'limited editions' except they’re not always and it’s sometimes too much of a faff to get hold of. At least this one seems readily available. Lovely palette, but overhyped.
